Vodafone launched its new flagship phone named Smart Platinum 7 on 20th June which is available on a £28 per month Pay Monthly deal.

You will also be able to pick a Smart Platinum 7 smartphone by paying £300 on Pay As You Go. Specification-wise, the phone will feature a 5.5-inch 2K AMOLED display, 32GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM, an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor, a fingerprint sensor and a MicroSD slot capable of accommodating up to 128GB of additional storage.

The phone also packs in a 3,000 mAh battery which will let you run it for as long as two days on a single charge and Qualcomm’s latest Quick Charge 3.0 technology will also allow the phone to charge from zero to 50 per cent in 30 minutes.

The rear camera will come with a 16-megapixel lens and will feature super zoom, Phase-Detection Auto Focus and zero second shutter lag while the 8-megapixel front camera will come with flash to let you take better selfies in low light conditions.

Apart from supporting 4G+ speeds, the phone will also let you access virtual reality content on its AMOLED display. Along with the Vodafone, Vodafone will also sell a Vodafone Smart VR headset which weighs only 260g and will offer a fully immersive VR experience. What’s more though, those who buy the Smart Platinum 7 will receive the Vodafone Smart VR headset totally free of charge.

“I am particularly excited about the Vodafone Smart platinum 7, which makes premium smartphone design and technology more attainable, so many more Vodafone customers will enjoy streaming everything from HD TV to virtual reality over our fast and reliable 4G+ networks,” said Patrick Chomet, Group Director of Terminals at Vodafone.

Being a premium phone, Smart Platinum 7 costs a lot more than Vodafone’s Smart Ultra 6 which was available for just £125 on Pay As You Go and won the Best Value Phone award at Mobile Choice Consumer Awards last year. Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 came with reasonable specifications for its price like a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, a 3,000 mAh battery, an internal storage of 16GB and 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras.

Compared to the Smart Ultra 6, Smart Platinum 7 brings in a better display resolution, upgraded cameras, double the internal storage and the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. The phone is also slightly lighter than the Smart Ultra 6 at 155g and comes with added virtual reality experiences.
