The Souls games are notorious for being insanely difficult and we might have the hardest souls game yet with Dark Souls 3.

Dark Souls 3 takes place in the Kingdom of Lothric, a huge, beautiful yet unforgiving world packed with a large variety of enemies and overwhelming bosses that will send you into a controller shattering rage.

Lothric is a massive, beautiful world full of secrets and fun to explore and thrilling when you are faced with overwhelming challenges.

Although occasionally Dark Souls 3 suffers from frame rate dips and overwhelming boss fights but apart from that there are aggressive obstacles and a rich development in the story and lore.

The Map

Lothric contains many new, striking locations that make it feel very unique and different compared to the other souls games even though there are recycled areas such as catacombs or poison swamps. These have been completely re-vamped and do not hinder the experience. The amount of variety that there is in Lothric makes it feel bigger than it actually is which is great, there so many wow moments where you just want to stare at mountains or forests because of how beautiful they are, and due to the variety and size you will find it very easy to get lost in this vast world.

The Bosses

In Dark Souls 3 there is a huge variety of bosses that range from knights to giants to walking trees. they are all fairly balanced and they have weak spots, some weak spots are more easy to exploit than others for example, in the fight with Yhorm the Giant it may take a while to kill him with a normal weapon but if you use the Storm Ruler weapon then he can be killed in about 5 hits.

The Story

The story and lore of Dark Souls 3 is extremely complex and hard to explain but it revolves around the Lords of Cinder, beings who managed to link the first flame in the kiln and survive. There are a total of 5 in the game and they are all bosses that the player must kill, one of these does include Yhorm the Giant.

Overall I think Dark Souls 3 is one of the best games of 2016 and its main selling points are: The World is massive and incredibly diverse, the challenges are aggressive and fun to repeatedly try to accomplish. There is a balance between you and your enemies although some bosses can be overwhelming. The story is complex and will keep you hooked on the game and the difficulty will stop you from putting that controller down.

I would give Dark Souls 3 a 9.6/10 and I have a firm belief that this is one of the best games of 2016.
