New gadget can put your face on your morning latte.
Your barista’s latte art is about to go next level. And even more pretentious.
Because there’s a new gadget on the market, called the Ripple Maker, which can print anything you fancy in foam – including your own face.
The Ripple Maker uses 3D printing techniques and printable coffee extract stored in ‘Ripple Pods’ to create customised designs in just 10 seconds.
It connects to a website, or an app, where customers can select their preferred design from an online library – or upload their own pictures/selfies.
You could buy one for yourself to impress your friends at dinner parties, but with a price tag of $999 (£634) and a monthly fee subscription fee of $75 (£47), that might seem a little excessive.
The product is more likely aimed at coffee chains (yes that’s you Starbucks), big brands, and individual coffee shops looking for that finishing touch. Lufthansa has reportedly already snapped up a number of the machines for its business lounges.
Because the Instagram opportunities are, frankly, endless. And terrifying.
And if your own mug on your macchiato isn’t your cup of tea, then you could always use it to help you pull in the coffee queue. Let your latte do the talking.
The Ripple Maker launched at CE Week in New York this year.
